Text CompareAll tools

Compare JSON

Paste two JSON documents, such as API responses, configs, or package files. Both are formatted the same way first, so you only see real changes, not spacing or key order.

Differences

Paste or open two texts to compare them.

Frequently asked questions

Does key order matter?
Not with "Sort keys" on (the default): {"a":1,"b":2} and {"b":2,"a":1} count as the same. Turn it off when the order itself matters to you.
What if my JSON is invalid?
You'll see which side is invalid and the line and column of the problem, so you can fix it. Comments and trailing commas aren't valid JSON.
Are big numbers compared exactly?
Yes. Numbers are compared as written, so long IDs like 12345678901234567890 aren't rounded the way JavaScript's own JSON reader rounds them. Duplicate keys are kept too.
Can I compare YAML too?
Yes. Choose YAML as the format: both sides are read and written out the same way, so indentation and quoting styles don't count as changes.
Is it safe to paste API keys or customer data?
The comparison runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded, so the data stays on your device. As always, avoid pasting secrets where people can see your screen.
